Bora Bora: Bloody Mary's Restaurant

No visit to Bora Bora is complete without a meal at the world famous Bloody Mary's ... a one-of-a-kind restaurant frequented by many of Hollywood biggest stars. Outside of the restaurant are 2 large boards listing the names of all the famous visitors from over the years.

The setting is tropical casual, footwear is optional (you can even check-in your shoes!). We sat at a table made of coconut trees & a coconut stump for chairs, under a huge thatched roof, with a white sandy floor surrounded by tropical palm trees/plants. The tropical cocktails are to die for ... margaritas are FAMOUUUS! The service is like something I have NEVER experienced ... giving an entirely new meaning to efficient.

The highlight of Bloody's is the visual menu. Upon arrival, we gather around a table that houses the available selection, a jaw-dropping selectin. This display table is covered with an assortment of choices and differing preparation choices: lobster, shrimp, more exotic local fish (such as jackfish and parrotfish), teriyaki mahi mahi and calamari. The food is simply DIVINE!!!Above you will surely notice (as all of us did) the white cat that is eyeballing the food selection ... can't say that I blame her. She was a favourite with everyone & gracefully strutted around the sandy floor like she owned the place. Actually, the staff all address her as the boss ;-)

As we were getting ready to leave ... one of the ladies travelling back to our hotel with us told me to check out the ladies room - so I did. It basically resembled something from an episode of Gilligan's Island! Picture does not do it justice - this is the sink that helps you with the ritual of washing your hands, step-by-step, as the necessary water, soap and rinsing water travels down a stone path from the top to the bottom where your hands wait.
