Dolphin & Whale Expedition in Moorea

Immediately after landing on the beautiful Island of Moorea on October 16th we made our way over to the Pearl Resort docks where we would meet Dr. Poole (also referred to as Dr. Foole as there were a few of us that did not click with him due to his arrogant attitude), an American biologist who offers Dolphin & Whale Expeditions.

It was a very windy day & the water was really choppy with GIANT swells the size of our boat. In the distance you can see the size of the waves as they hit the reef surrounding Moorea. Imagine my shocked surprise when I was told that we would be going in THAT direction!

After about 3 hours of cruisin' the huge swells, we finally saw some dolphins in the far ... far ... FAR distance. We did manage a few shots ... thanks to our SLR & major ZOOM lens.

Although, we treasured the precious sighting of the playful, frolicking dolphins, we really had our hearts set on seeing whales - one of the most magnificent, intelligent & graceful members of the marine world.

Sadly, we did not see any whales during our 4 hour expedition ... unless you count the posters of whales that were displayed in Dr. Poole's insightful lectures (wink wink).
