Bora Bora: Island Tour

On our second day, we rented a tiny car to photograph the beauty & diversity of Bora Bora. It was very difficult to select only a few pictures as there were so many gorgeous shots. So here is a taste of Bora Bora. I read in our guidebook that Bora Bora was initially developed during the filming of a big Hollywood movie which is how Marlon Brando grew to love Bora Bora & eventually built a private overwater bungalow for vacationing. Mel Gibson, Pierce Brosnan & many others are regular vacationers to this island ... In the center of the island are the remnants of an extinct volcano rising to two peaks, Mount Pahia & Mount Otemanu

Bora Bora in itself is rather small, and can be circled by car in about an hour. The lagoon is 3 times the size of the land mass and offers an amazing range of hues of blue and turquoise as you navigate its crystal waters.
We took mostly pictures of isolated lagoons, rich green tropical vegetation & the mountainous areas of the inner part of the island.
Just 20 minutes into our trip, we drove up to a giant palm tree that blocked the ONLY road around the island. Luckily, a rather large jeep with huge tires came up behind us and drove over the edge of the tree, flattening it somewhat so we could drive over it with our little putt putt of a car and continue with our short tour.
Saving the best for last ... one of the famous lagoons in green-blue colours.
