John Lennon Wall

As we took a quiet stroll through the less travelled streets of Prague, back to our hotel, we stumbled upon the John Lennon Wall. After the music legend's murder in 1980, young Czechs started a spontaneous memorial to him on the wall of this garden - displaying a series of graffiti, allowing the opportunity for expression. Before 1989, during communistic times, pop music was not openly accepted, with some musicians even jailed for their participation! So this wall became an outlet of expression and freedom but the primary theme behind this landmark is “Give peace a Chance”. Overall a necessary reminder and an important message that often needs repeating throughout history, especially during troubling times.
